For many years, our annual two‑day retreat at the Mols Laboratory has been a highlight of August — a chance to share ongoing research, reflect on life at BiRC, and enjoy time together in the beautiful Mols Bjerge. We have greatly appreciated the hospitality and unique atmosphere the Mols Laboratory has offered us throughout all these meetings.
However, the Mols Laboratory has now been transferred to the Hempel Foundation as part of a new national “Wildlands” initiative. As part of this transition, the facilities will undergo major renovations and will no longer be available for external bookings or revenue‑generating activities. From 2026 onwards, the site will primarily be used for field courses in natural sciences and biodiversity, with limited access only through specific academic applications.
This means that, unfortunately, it is unlikely that we will be able to hold future BiRC meetings at the Mols Laboratory. While we are sad to say goodbye to a place that has hosted so many memorable gatherings, we are grateful for the many years we were able to spend there.
The purpose of the meeting is (i) to present and discuss on-going research projects at BiRC, (ii) to explore how to make everyday life at BiRC even better, and last, but not least, (iii) to enjoy some quality time together in the beautiful "Mols Mountains".
The meeting is always held at Mols Laboratoriet and anybody working at BiRC can participate. Minibus transportation to and from Mols Laboratoriet will be arranged. BiRC covers food and accommodation, but if you want beer or a nice bottle of red wine for the dinner, please bring this yourself.
