Title: Factors that affect the rate of adaptive evolution
Abstract:
It has been shown that a substantial fraction of amino acid substitutions are a consequence of adaptive evolution in some species, whereas in others there is almost no evidence of adaptive evolution. In my talk I describe work that we have done in which we have explored the factors that affect the rate of adaptive evolution both between species and between genes within a genome.
