Congratulations on your acceptance to our MSc in Bioinformatics! We are delighted that you applied to Aarhus University, and we look forward to welcoming you here this autumn.
To help you get to know the city and Aarhus University better, and to show you what a great student city Aarhus is, we would like to invite you to the Aarhus University BiRC Visit 2026— a three-day event taking place in Aarhus from May 20–22, 2026. This visit is a great opportunity to experience what makes Aarhus University the right choice for your studies.
During your visit, you and the other international applicants will meet some of our staff members and current students. You will also visit a selected partner company, which will introduce you to some of the exciting job opportunities available to both students and graduates from our centre.
We hope you will take advantage of this unique opportunity to get to know more about our us, Aarhus University, and the vibrant city of Aarhus.
Arrival and check-in at CABINN Aarhus, Kannikegade 14, 8000 Aarhus. Check-in at the hotel is possible from 15:00.
17:30 Welcome – we meet outside the hotel and walk to dinner together.
18:00 Dinner at Aarhus Street Food. Some of our staff and local students will join.

15:00 OWN TIME – we can suggest a coffee at Salling Rooftop, a visit to the Aros Rainbow Panorama, or a rest at the hotel
16:00 OPTIONAL: Visit Basecamp (student housing close to the universtity). Get a tour of the dorm and its facilities. The tour will last approx. one hour.
18:30 Dinner - restaurant will be announced later. Staff members and current students will join.

Covered Expenses for Your Visit
Aarhus University (BiRC/MBG) will cover the following expenses related to your visit:
Hotel: Two nights at Cabinn in Aarhus city from May 20-22. You will have a single room with private bathroom and breakfast included. If you need additional nights we can try to help you book this, but you must pay yourself. For questions, please contact Ellen Noer at elno@birc.au.dk.
Transportation: Transportation costs up to €150 for flight, train or bus on economy class will be covered by Aarhus University. Please make your own booking, and remember to save your receipts! Without the receipts, you cannot get the expenses covered.
Meals: Breakfast is included at the hotel. All meals included in the program will be paid by the university.
Reimbursement: After the event, you will receive a link to a portal where you need to upload your receipt(s) and provide your bank information. It may take up to 14 days from the claim is made until you have the money in your account.
If you're arriving by plane, you have three main airport options:
If you prefer traveling by bus, FlixBus offers long-distance routes across Denmark and Europe, including service to Aarhus.
You will stay two nights at Cabinn in Aarhus city. We will book single rooms with private bathroom. The hotel is located in the city centre - about 10 minutes walk from the train station and bus terminal. Hotel adress: CABINN Aarhus, Kannikegade 14, 8000 Aarhus.

Aarhus is a highly walkable city, and it takes approximately 35–40 minutes to walk from the city centre to the department.
Alternatively, you can use public transport. Several city buses and the light rail (Letbanen) serve the university area. To plan your journey, you can use apps such as Rejseplanen or Google Maps.
Tickets for all forms of public transport in Denmark can be purchased via the RejseBillet app, which is available in both Danish and English.
