Transportation

Getting to Aarhus

If you're arriving by plane, you have three main airport options:

  • Aarhus Airport, Tirstrup (AAR):
The closest airport to Aarhus, though relatively small with limited connections. Travel time to the city is approximately 45 minutes by bus.

  • Billund Airport (BLL):
A slightly larger airport with more international connections. The bus ride to Aarhus takes about 1.5 hours.

  • Copenhagen Airport (CPH):
Denmark’s largest airport, offering a wide range of international flights. From here, you can travel to Aarhus by domestic flight, train, or bus. A domestic flight to Aarhus takes about 40 minutes, but in many cases, the direct train from Copenhagen Airport to Aarhus Central Station (Aarhus H) is more convenient. The train journey takes approximately 3.5 hours.

Trains in Denmark are operated by DSB. Tickets must be purchased before boarding and are available online or from ticket machines at the stations. Be sure to get off at Aarhus H (Aarhus Central Station).

If you prefer traveling by bus, FlixBus offers long-distance routes across Denmark and Europe, including service to Aarhus.

Hotel Accommodation

You will stay two nights at Wakeup Aarhus, located on M.P. Bruuns Gade in downtown Aarhus. We will book single rooms with private bathrooms and breakfast included. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of both the train station and the central bus terminal.
