My research focuses on experimental animal models to uncover mechanisms of host–pathogen interactions, gut barrier function and immune responses. By investigating how nutrition, maternal factors, and microbial colonization shape the early-life development. I aim to support global efforts against antimicrobial resistance by using pigs as translational models to develop non-antibiotic strategies that enhance disease resilience in livestock, with relevance to both veterinary and human medicine.
