Task Force

BiRC's task force is aimed at helping university researchers in need of bioinformatics consultant help. Examples of work/help include:

  • automated blasting against whole genomes or custom libraries and customized blast output/analysis
  • automated data formatting, selection and filtering
  • visualization of results
  • simple statistical analysis of data
  • computational analysis of data

How to get involved

Whether we can take on a task depends on the job to be done, availability of consultants and how time consuming the job appears to be. Some tasks develop into small collaborative projects. If you have a task and would like to use the task force, you should email us:

Carsten Wiuf (wiuf@birc.au.dk) or Palle Villesen Fredsted (palle@birc.au.dk)

Examples of former tasks and projects

  • BLAST mapping of viral integration sites in the mouse genome
  • Identification of gene regions with changed expression in leukaemia
  • Correlation analysis of disease and genotype status in colon cancer
  • Association mapping in cervix tumours
  • Identification of unique probing regions in various DNA databases
  • Identification of up- and down regulated genes in cell lines with varying oxygen supply
  • miRNA target identification and selection
